ABOUT SALT DESIGN
WHY SALT?
Sarah’s nuanced approach is reflected in the studio’s name, Salt. Salt is an essential flavoring element that defines and enhances without overpowering.
This is the perfect metaphor for our design philosophy: Salt Design's recipe for the spaces we create is to use a nuanced touch that truly allows the essence of the client’s aesthetic to shine – Salt is the complimentary element that enlivens the space.
THE WORK
Our approach to interior design and styling is a thoughtfully curated collection of modern, custom and vintage elements that reflects Sarah’s deep love for well-made and well-worn goods.
Although every project is unique, the common element is close collaboration between Sarah and the client. This ensures a finished environment that speaks to the client’s sensibilities and creates a home that is uniquely theirs.

Sarah has done two offices for us, both of them were on an incredibly tight budget. You couldn't tell from the results though! She was incredibly resourceful in finding or even having new furniture & decor custom made. Visitors to our office always comment on how well designed everything is and she captured the spirit of our company perfectly. It's a pleasure coming to the office every day because Sarah has done such a great job of making it feel like our special place.

SARAH NEMEC
Sarah holds a BFA in studio art from Texas State University, and intuitively brings an artist’s approach to the design process. She found her way to the practice of interior design out of a “love of space” and constant attention to the environment around her. A 5th generation Texan, Sarah has made Austin her home for almost two decades.
